I bought Kool Aid for the first time last week! For dyeing my knit picks' sock yarn. Even though I know it's a common drink amongst the kids (maybe adults), I have never had it. So before I begin my dyeing project, I decided to try it once. I tore open a packet of Kool Aid, mixed it in water, took a drink, and spit it out. It tasted terrible to me. I told my husband about my Kool Aid experiment and that's when he said, " you DiDn't add SUGAR?"
Okay, lesson learn - Always add sugar to Kool Aid mix if I want to drink it.
Other than that, dyeing yarn with Kool Aid is a lot of fun. Here are the results:

This is what it looks like knitted up. Can you tell which pattern I am using here? Answer will be out in the next post.

Gotta love the Jaywalkers. They work so well with striped yarns. Great job!
Wow, the result is really impressive! I love how they come out self-striping. What flavours are the dark red and the pink? So well done!
Your dyeing job turned out so fantastic, it's truly amazing what one can do with Cool Aid! I really love these colors, and your new Jaywalkers are going to look totally gorgeous!

Beautiful colors!! I'd like to know what flavors you used, too. Did you use the Kool-Aid dying tutorial from the Knitpicks site?
those are really lovely...
Those look great. I'll have to try dyeing someday. I couldn't find an email on your blog to respond so I'll do it here. For cotton blend yarns, I like Cotton Fleece (Brown Sheep), Rowan Wool Cotton, Rowan All Seasons Cotton and Lion Brand Cotton-Ease. The cotton yarn I'm using doesn't look like it will have good memory but it is wonderfully soft.
That skein on the right is beautiful! I love it! Usually kool-aid dyeing results in such muted pastel-ey colors, but those reds and pinks are great!
Those kool-aid dyed socks came out fantastic. How did you dye them to get the stripes like that??? Did you lay it in a dish and section off parts of it to be different colors? I'd love to know! I've dyed with kool aid but only solid colors - I am loving your color ways. I have tons of kool aid in my stash!! Please respond.
